FET #1 - Failure

Started the calendar in February for the transfer, which is almost identical to the start date of the IUI that resulted in the ectopic blocked tube. Everything for transfer looked great. Transferred two beauties on 2/24, big fat negative on March 8th.

Taking two months off to do Lupron Depot, one shot a month, with a uterus poking to cause trauma and stimulation. We won't be able to do another transfer until June.

I'm not to hopeful that this will produce another baby. It is so odd to have had problems getting pregnant the first time and then quadruple the amount of trouble getting pregnant a second time. In my plans, I'd have a 5 month old from the ectopic cycle, not looking at another Christmas with only one child.

I'm not doing a great job keeping up with this blog, but I guess it will be some kind of record of what I've done to have a second child.

Almost 4 Months Later

IUI #4 didn't work.

Had surgery to remove the right tube. Found an endometrioma (huge surprise) and tons of endometriosis (really huge surprise) resulting in a diagnosis of Stage IV endo (due to the endometrioma) The fact that I had no symptoms of endo (especially such severe endo) is shocking. My RE said he was shocked when he looked inside at the start of the tube removal.

Recovery from surgery.

Talk about IVF #1 (spoiler alert, I'm writing a 1 there for a reason).

Start IVF #1 on 9/21. Retrieval of 19 eggs, 16 fertilized, 2 "perfect embryos" were transferred.

PEO shots were given and were extremely painful from the beginning.

Spotting and cramping a week after transfer. Lasted a week.

Two negative HPTs. Negative blood work.

Cussing RE, "Shit, I can't believe it didn't work. Dammit, you should be pregnant. Everything looked perfect."

Still feeling the effects of the PEO at the injection shots two weeks later. Itchy, redness, bumpy.

Waiting until January to try FET #1.

Had terrible dreams about taking care of a baby and being held captive. Everytime I tried to leave I would get lost on the streets and then recaptured and brought back to where I started. Pretty literal for my ectopic due date being yesterday.

Well, That Was Interesting...

Turns out my left side not only caught up, but surpassed my right. I only had 2 follicles on my right side, one a 19 and the other an 18. In previous cycles, those on the right side had been much bigger by this point and the left side would have dropped off by now. Today the left side was where all the action was. (I'm tyring not to get my hopes up, but it was a relief to hear that the left side had shown up for work.) Left side was 20, 19, 18, 16 and a few others I don't remember.

I had my E2 drawn as well, and now I'm waiting for the call to find out what is next. Oh, and my appointment was for 10 and I was back in my car by 10:25. That HAS to be a record!

6 Months Later

One ectopic pregnancy on the right side, found out March 24th.

Took two doses of Methotrexate and one overnight in the hospital, but no surgery.

3 months of waiting to try again.

Started the cycle, July 7th, Day 1.

July 16th, Day 9, did HSG and found out my right tube is blocked.

Know that my right side is my dominate side where things grow perfectly and the left side is the one that lags behind.

Hear the doctor talk about tube removal and IVF.

Watching the second child's arrival be pushed back even more, watching the age gap between first and second child widen.

Wondering if we are a single child family...

Migraine

I have been of birth control pills for about two weeks now. I had my first migraine this morning. Luckily I caught it in time and was able to take some meds and drink a diet soda. It lasted about 20 min, so thankfully I had my vision back before I had to take A to school.

Ordering Meds

I called the pharmacy back and ended up being pretty confused on what the nurse and I talked about and what she ordered for me. I wish I had a print out of what was ordered. But it just doesn't seem like the right amounts of certain things. Frustrating, to say the least. I will receive the package on Friday, so I'll be able to sort it out soon, and I don't want to call the nurse all the time. Especially since I have so long before the first cycle day actually starts.

Injections Class

I had to take A with me for the appt because she was out of school due to MLK, Jr day. The nurse was surprised that I had done the injections class previously. I pointed to A and said we did it for her. Which is surprising because I'm sure it says all over my chart that I gave birth and how I got pregnant in the first place. Right? She asked if I thought I needed the class, and I think I did, I just wish I didn't have to pay $50 for it. What I needed was the handouts I got with pictures, more than I needed her to show me things. Because she really did barely show me anything. What I needed was to talk to her about the calendar and to get a prescription for prometrium so I can actually get my period to have a cycle day 1.

I also got a call from the fertility pharmacy this morning because the nurse had ordered my meds. Still need to call them back. As far as I can tell, the protocol looks the same as far as drugs are concerned. The only change is the Menopur is now called something else and is much cheaper. I'm thinking we might have used that on the second try which got us A, because that info sounds familiar. But like I told the nurse, I seem to have blocked a lot of this stuff out.

At the end of the appt I made another appt for R to get his blood work and sem.en analysis taken care of.

Then I took A to the mall to get a party dress. Can't believe my little girl turns 2 on Friday!
